Healing, learning and improving – a framework for collaborative responses to healthcare incidents in shared care services
This document was developed with input from the South East Queensland (SEQ) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations, SEQ Hospital and Health Services, Children’s Health Queensland, Mater Health, the Queensland Ambulance Service and Clinical Excellence Queensland. The framework provides guidance on a shared approach to managing healthcare incidents arising in services provided in partnership between the SEQ First Nations Health Equity partner organisations, with a focus on taking a culturally responsive, relational approach to understanding the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who experience harm related to health care, learning in an environment of trust, mutual respect, transparency and shared decision making, and using what is learned to restore relationships and improve the quality and safety of health care. If you would like to learn more about the framework, please contact us.
